The Situationist Polytope

Lorenzo is a musician and sound artist based in Birmingham. He studied music at Dartington College of Arts and holds a Master’s in Sonic Art and a PhD in Music from The University of Sheffield. His practice explores the everyday as a site for creative action and imaginary, spanning installations, electroacoustic compositions, live performances and workshops. His research project Melting Buildings (2020-2025) explored performative readings of architecture and public buildings by developing situated sound practices with Sheffield’s modernist Arts Tower and Western Bank Library. In 2022 he catalogued the Longplayer Archive with James Bulley. In 2021 he joined artist-led co-operative Artefact Stirchley where he co-hosts Artefact's Improv Society Issimo! and helps with the running of the space. He is part of the long-term projects The Evil Usses and Ichigo Evil, and plays saxophone with many other artists and formations.
