Sinfonidria is an online sound installation which uses meteorological, hydrological and structural data gathered at the Ridracoli dam (Emilia-Romagna, Italy) to continuously generate a musical soundscape in real time, making use of hundreds of measuring devices which the dam is equipped with for monitoring and security purposes. The main idea behind the piece was to transform the dam into a huge musical instrument played by the weather, the water which it contains and the land on which it stands. This was achieved building a sonification system capable of creating music which fits both with the artificial nature of the engineering structure but also with the environment and wilderness that surrounds it.

Sinfonidria was created in collaboration with musician and sound artist Yas Clarke, Romagna Acque SDF and Romagna Musica.
